New name: Economic Development CouncilThe Coordinating Council on Technology Transfer has a new name -- the Economic Development Council. Formed in 1993, the council coordinates ISU technology transfer and economic development activities at Iowa State. The council is chaired by the vice provost for research. University closed July 4Iowa State offices will be closed and classes not held Monday, July 4, in observance of the national Independence Day holiday. July 4 at the Farm HouseCelebrate an old-fashioned Fourth of July at the Farm House Museum, central campus, from 1 to 4 p.m. Festivities include games, crafts, tours of the historic Farm House Museum, and music and dance performances by the Onion Creek Cloggers. Hotdogs, popcorn and lemonade will be sold. Park in any campus lot except where 24-hour reserve restrictions apply. Holiday hours at gardensReiman Gardens, including the conservatory, gift shop and outdoor gardens, will be open 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Monday, July 4. Hazel's Kitchen will close at 4 p.m. and the butterfly wing at 4:30 p.m. Guests may bring picnic suppers. Regular admission will be charged (children under 17 are admitted free through Aug. 31).
