February 25, 2005 New group for faculty parentsby Linda Charles A new discussion group for faculty parents will begin this spring. The program, Faculty Parents Network, will provide support and information to faculty members who are parents or thinking about becoming parents. Among possible discussion topics will be when to discuss a request for leave with your department chair, the impact of children on tenure, ISU policies and how to deal with departments that do not feel child-friendly. Meetings will be from noon to 1 p.m. Spring semester meetings will be in the Memorial Union in the Regency Room on March 10 and in room 233 on April 1 and April 21. Monthly meetings are planned for fall semester. Penny Rice, director of the women's center, will serve as facilitator. The informal meetings will be held on a "drop in" basis (no registration needed) and participants are encouraged to bring their lunches.
