January 14, 2005 Teaching tipAvoid writing on the whiteboard or chalkboard while you talk. Even students in the front row can't hear or understand instructors who speak while facing away from them. Make it a point to write, then speak. If talking and writing are inseparable for you, consider writing on a transparency with an overhead projector, or using computer technology that lets you write or draw with a stylus and project the computer image onto the classroom screen. |
