Romantic tragedy told through ballet

The St. Petersburg State Ballet Theatre will present Romeo and Juliet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at Stephens Auditorium.

Founded as the first Theatre of Ballet in Russia, the St. Petersburg masters the traditions of classic Russian dance in this elegant, three-act ballet set to the music of Prokofiev.

This full-length version of Shakespeare's classic romantic tragedy is a dance showcase. From the grandeur of the masked ball to the intimacy of the grand balcony, St. Petersburg State Ballet Theatre dancers bring this tale of young love and bitter feuds to life.

General admission tickets are $34.50 and $38.50, and available at the Iowa State Center ticket office, TicketMaster locations and online at http://www. ticketmaster.com, or by phone at 233-1888.

A master class will be available to Iowa State and area ballet students the day of the show. For more information, contact Sara Compton, 4-7389, scompton@iastate.edu.
