December 10, 2004 Commencement events are Dec. 17-18by Anne Krapfl An estimated 1,749 students will receive degrees from Iowa State next weekend. Fall commencement ceremonies will be held Dec. 17 and 18. At 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, in Stephens Auditorium, an estimated 252 master's and 96 doctoral students will be honored. Catherine Woteki, dean of the College of Agriculture and director of the Iowa Agriculture and Home Economics Experiment Station, will give the commencement address. A registered dietitian and expert in food safety issues and policy, Woteki became the college's dean in January 2002. At 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, in Hilton Coliseum, about 1,401 students will receive bachelor's degrees. John Forsyth of Des Moines, chairman and chief executive officer of Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Iowa, and current president of the Board of Regents, State of Iowa, will speak. Forsyth was appointed to a six-year regent term in 2003 by Gov. Tom Vilsack, and elected board president last April. Tickets are not required for either of the commencement ceremonies. Colleges will honor their graduating students in separate ceremonies or receptions Friday evening and Saturday morning. A complete list of graduation events follows. Commencement Friday, December 17
