Memorial Day gathering
A Memorial Day observance will begin at 9 a.m. Monday, May 28, in the
Molecular Biology auditorium. Staff and faculty who have died since May 2000
will be remembered. Farwell Brown, Ames historian, will speak, and survivors
will be invited to make brief remarks. Following the ceremony, flowers will
be placed on the graves of faculty and staff buried in the University
Cemetery.
The ceremony is planned by members of the ISU Retirees Committee. The group
currently is raising $20,000 to rebuild the brick pillars at the cemetery's
entrance and purchase new gates and a plaque for the cemetery. For more
information, contact Betty Licht, 4-3830.
