Final ISU Theatre show opens April 26
by Debra Gibson
ISU Theatre's final production of the academic year opens Thursday,
April 26, in Fisher Theater. On The Open Road will be this year's
Second Stage (ISU Studio Theatre) selection, with 7:30 p.m. performances
scheduled for Thursday, April 26; Friday, April 27; and Saturday, April 28;
and a matinee slated for 2 p.m. Sunday, April 29.
On The Open Road was written by Steve Tesich, who also wrote such
well-known films as Breaking Away, The World According to
Garp, American Flyers and Eyewitness. On The Open
Road chronicles the journey of two freedom seekers, Al and Angel, in a
nation divided by a second civil war spawned by the second coming of
Christ.
The ISU Studio Theatre presentations are student-produced on a minimal
budget. This year's play is directed by Sean Kehoe, a senior from Monticello
majoring in performing arts. Tickets for On The Open Road, $3 for
adults and $1 for students, can be purchased at the Iowa State Center ticket
office or through Ticketmaster.
