Thanks in part to her perfect "10" scored during the March 20 gymnastics
meet against Iowa, junior Shelly Kringen has been named Co-Gymnast of the
Year for the NCAA North Central Region. Kringen's performance at the Iowa
meet made her the first ISU gymnast ever to land a perfect score in the
vault event, and only the second ISU gymnast in history to score a "10."
Meanwhile, the Cyclone gymnastics team placed third in the North Central
Regional championships last weekend in Salt Lake City, narrowly missing an
opportunity to advance to the national team championships. Juniors Sissy
Huey and Stephanie Sweitzer qualified however, in the all-around and balance
beam individual events, respectively. The national championships are April
19-21 at the University of Georgia, Athens. Photo by Michael Haynes.
