Laying the groundwork
ISU's $1.5-million remodeling of The Knoll is in full swing, according to
Dean Morton, university architect. Framing began this week for the new
garage for the president's residence, with a second story atop the garage
slated for a family room, small kitchen and private dining area. New
ductwork has been installed throughout the existing facility, which is
required for the installation of a new chilled and hot water system. A
sprinkler system goes in this week, and the existing kitchen, which will be
enlarged to cater meals for up to 100 people, is being prepared for
renovation. Harold Pike Construction of Ames is working on the project,
slated for completion in July. Photo by Michael Haynes.
