Laying the groundwork

ISU's $1.5-million remodeling of The Knoll is in full swing, according to Dean Morton, university architect. Framing began this week for the new garage for the president's residence, with a second story atop the garage slated for a family room, small kitchen and private dining area. New ductwork has been installed throughout the existing facility, which is required for the installation of a new chilled and hot water system. A sprinkler system goes in this week, and the existing kitchen, which will be enlarged to cater meals for up to 100 people, is being prepared for renovation.
