Ask Inside
Q: Female students at Iowa State seem to almost outnumber male students
this year. Is this true?
A: While female student numbers creep up every year, male students at
Iowa State still outnumber their female counterparts (44 percent female, 56
percent male this fall). The percentage of female students has been rising
steadily since 1987, when it reached 40 percent. The all-time high for Iowa
State women was set in 1944, when 75 percent of the student body was
female.
