Plans proceed for Carver lab

by Teddi Barron
Construction is scheduled to begin this summer on the Plant Sciences Institute's Roy J. Carver Co-laboratory. Last month, the Board of Regents, State of Iowa, approved the schematic design. Brooks Borg Skiles, Des Moines, is proceeding with design and construction drawings. The two-story, 29,975- square-foot building will be built northwest of the Molecular Biology Building. Construction will take about 18 months.

The Carver Co-laboratory will provide a place where plant scientists from Iowa State, private industry and universities worldwide can meet in a collaborative environment. The building will feature research space for visiting scientists, small laboratories for industry incubators and state-of-the- art laboratories.
