Men 'flip' at Women's Center cookout

by Steve Sullivan
A "Visionary Iowa Woman" will be honored during the Margaret Sloss Women's Center fall open house, which also will feature various male coaches, administrators and other campus leaders flipping burgers.

The Women's Center cookout, "The Flip Side," will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14.

The Women's Center, with support from the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture, has purchased beef for the cookout from Maria Rosmann, of Rosmann Family Farms, Harlan. The Rosmann's beef is certified organic, and the operation meets animal welfare right's standards, said Nancy Bevin, interim director of the Womens Center.

"Maria Rosmann will be our honored guest as a 'Visionary Iowa Woman,' who is committed to safe and humane food production," Bevin said.

A vegetarian option will be available at the open house. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the Women's Center, 4-4154.
