Part of Faculty Conference opened to all interested faculty and staff

by Anne Krapfl
Organizers of this spring's Faculty Conference, March 31-April 1, have opened part of Friday's events to all interested faculty and staff.

The conference, focusing on challenges and opportunities for faculty in the information age, will be held at the DMACC Conference Center in Newton. About 80 faculty members will participate in the two-day event; up to 200 others are welcome to join them Friday morning.

Registration and a continental breakfast begin at 8 a.m. Friday. Provost Rollin Richmond will outline conference goals and the keynote speaker, Diana Oblinger, will speak from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. on the new "e" in education. Oblinger is the chief information officer for the 16-campus University of North Carolina system.

ISU faculty and staff members will give a presentation from 10 to 11 a.m. on opportunities at Iowa State for enhancing learning through the use of technology, and from 11:10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. five faculty members will give short talks on how they use technology in their classrooms to improve interaction with students.

Those who attend Friday morning's activities must provide their own transportation to Newton. They don't need to register. Contact David Hopper, 4-1770, with questions.
