Sloss fund-raiser nets $6,000
A fund-raiser Feb. 8 to refurbish the kitchen in the Margaret Sloss Women's Center raised $6,040. Tickets to the reception and a silent auction helped organizers surpass their $4,000 goal. ISU head coaches wives' Stacy Eustachy, Deb Fennelly and Margy McCarney hosted the event.

Flyers have specific place
University policy prohibits posting flyers and commercial advertising in academic buildings except on bulletin boards established for public use, says Warren Madden, vice president for business and finance. Flyers and other materials taped on walls, windows, doors, light posts and other spots can leave tape residue and, in some cases, pull paint off when removed. Posting commercial materials in other locations requires prior approval from facilities planning and management personnel. Madden asks the campus community's help in seeing all are informed of the university's policy.

Library conducts Web survey
Faculty and students are encouraged to complete a short Web-based survey on the university library during the next week. The survey will help library staff improve collections, said Olivia Madison, dean of library services. Two surveys, one for faculty and one for students, are available on the Web at www.lib.iastate.edu/survey.html. The survey takes less than five minutes to complete and responses will be confidential. The survey must be completed by Sunday, Feb. 27.
