Athletics staff assists with women's center fund-raiser

The wives of several Cyclone head coaches will host a reception and fund-raiser for the Margaret Sloss Women's Center from 5:30 to 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, in the first floor lobby of the Scheman Building.The reception preceeds the Cyclone women's basketball game against Oklahoma and is open to the public. Tickets are $25; hors d'oeuvres and beverages will be provided by the Iowa State Center. The reception hostesses are Stacy Eustachy, wife of men's basketball coach Larry Eustachy; Deb Fennelly, wife of women's basketball coach Bill Fennelly; and Margy McCarney, wife of football coach Dan McCarney.
A short program will begin at 6 p.m. Those attending will have the option of bidding on items in a silent auction. "Experiences" to be auctioned include:
- Dinner with basketball student athletes Stacy Frese and Marcus Fizer following the March tournaments.
- Tickets in athletic director Gene Smith's skybox suite for the opening football game vs. Ohio Aug. 31.
- Autographed photos, basketballs and football by Iowa State student athletes.
- Tennis package, including private lesson, court time at the Ames Racquet Club and lunch with ISU tennis coach Michele Conlon.
- 18 holes of golf with Bill Fennelly and Gene Smith at Ames Golf and Country Club for two threesomes.
Other auction items will be introduced at the reception. Funds raised from the reception and silent auction will be used to replace the counters and cabinets in the Sloss House kitchen. The fund-raising goal is $4,000.
