Editorial board
Arnold Cowan, associate professor of finance, has been appointed to the editorial board of the Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance. His board term is for three years.


Editorial board
DeAnna Kempf, assistant professor of marketing, has been selected for the editorial review board of Psychology & Marketing. She will serve a three-year term on the board.


Textbook award
The sixth edition of Strategic Management and Business Policywon a 1999 Text and Academic Authors McGuffey Award for longevity. It is written by J. David Hunger, professor of management, and Tom Wheelen, currently a faculty member at the University of South Florida. Judges call the book well organized, up-to-date and full of "references from businesses that will appeal to students." The book's first edition dates to the early 1980s. The duo now are working on a seventh edition.


Iowa academy members
Walter Gmelch, dean of the College of Education, and Jerry Thomas, professor and chair of the health and human performance department, have been inducted into the Iowa Academy of Education. They are two of five new inductees who join 10 scholars in the academy, a 3-year-old organization that works to highlight educational policies and practices in Iowa by examining research, issues and trends. The academy is sponsored by the FINE (First in the Nation in Education) Foundation, a private, nonprofit organization.


Guest editor
Paula Dail, associate professor of human development and family studies, has been invited to guest edit an edition of the journal American Behavioral Scientiston the topic of homelessness. The volume, which will be published next spring, will contain several leading-edge articles on aspects of homelessness.
