Provost creates associate post
by Linda Charles
Applications are being accepted for a half-time associate provost position that begins Jan. 3, 2000."We're seeking a tenured faculty member who will bring fresh ideas about faculty programs, academic program review and personnel issues to the Provost's Office," said Provost Rollin Richmond.
"We're looking for someone who has a broad perspective of the university and an interest in providing academic leadership," he said, "and someone who can provide advice and counsel, as well as assume administrative duties.
"In addition to the ongoing activities of the office," Richmond added, "we will be developing an academic plan in the context of the new strategic plan. We need additional faculty leadership and fresh perspectives to accomplish these things."
Candidates do not need previous administrative experience, Richmond said, but they should have some evidence of academic leadership through their department, teaching, research or professional affiliations.
Richmond noted that he is especially eager to receive nominations for, and applications from, women and minorities.
The position will be for a three-year term. Specific responsibilities will depend on the expertise and interests of the successful candidate, Richmond said. Applications and nominations are due Nov. 1 to Richmond, 107 Beardshear. For more information, visit the Provost's Web site: www.iastate.edu/~provost/new.html.
