Free travel offered on AccessAir for a limited time

Iowa State employees may use the state's repayment warrant program with AccessAir, in which a portion of the state's economic development loan to AccessAir may be repaid through services in lieu of cash repayments.

Any person traveling on official state business (employees, hired consultants or invited lecturers) qualify for free transportation on AccessAir for a limited time. Access-Air currently flies to Colorado Springs, Los Angeles (LAX), New York City (Laguardia), Peoria and Moline.

Employees may request tickets through AAA, American Travel or Travel & Transport. The reservations will be processed by the State of Iowa's contracted travel agency, Shorts Travel, Des Moines, to simplify reporting to the Iowa Department of Economic Development.

The confirmed itinerary and e-ticket confirmation will be sent directly to the traveler from Shorts, and a copy will be sent to the requesting travel agency. All ticket requests must be verified by submitting an Air Ticket Requisition (ATR) to one of three Iowa-based agencies. The dollar amount on the ATR must be shown as $0.

Questions about this program should be addressed to Al Brooks, 4-7040. To check the status of Access-Air or other flights at the Des Moines airport, check the online flight status boards at: www.dsmairport.com/fids/arr-timedata.htm (arrivals), or www.dsmairport.com/fids/dep-time data.htm (departures).
