Elected fellow
Jane Farrell-Beck, University professor in textiles and clothing, has been elected a fellow of the International Textile and Apparel Association. Membership consists of college and university faculty members primarily from the United States, Canada, Korea and several other countries. Farrell-Beck has been a member of the association since 1969 and currently serves as an associate editor of its publication, Clothing and Textiles Research Journal.
Jacobson complex cited for architectural excellence
The Jacobson Athletic complex has received one of seven national awards given jointly by the American Institute of Architects and the American Institute of Steel Construction for innovative design and excellence in architecture. Award recipients were featured in the July issue of Modern Steel Construction magazine. The August issue of Architectural Record also included the Jacobson complex among four featured international sports and recreation facilities. The firm of Herbert Lewis Kruse Blunck, Des Moines, served as architect on the building.
