Outdooor movie series opens this month at Scheman

by Anne Dolan

Packing people into the trunk of your car won't have any merit, but outdoor movies on the big screen are coming to campus this summer.

The Iowa State Center and Ames Hy-Vee stores are sponsoring "CenterVision" on three weekends in the courtyard south of Scheman. Six different films, in 35mm format with concert sound, will be shown on a 21-by-50-foot outdoor screen.

Outdoor movie weekends are June 25-26, July 9-10 and Aug. 6- 7. The films selected are Patch Adams, rated PG13 (June 25); The Water Boy, PG13 (June 26); October Sky, PG (July 9); A Bug's Life, G (July 10); Armageddon, PG13 (Aug. 6); and Mighty Joe Young, PG (Aug. 7). The shows begin at dusk, just like the drive-ins advertise.

Admission is free with tickets available at Hy-Vee, KASI/KCCQ Radio, The Tribune, Scheman reception desk and the Stephens ticket office. Admission at the gate for those without tickets is $3.

Concessions will be available; movie-goers should bring blankets or lawn chairs.
