Regents approve faculty promotions, tenure

The State Board of Regents approved promotion and tenure recommendations for 53 faculty during its April meeting. Twenty faculty were promoted to professor, 32 to associate professor and one to assistant professor. Approved for promotions and tenure were:

College of Agriculture

• Promotion to professor (already tenured): Charlotte R. Bronson, plant pathology; Joseph C. Cordray, animal science; Joseph A. Herriges, economics; W. Allen Miller, plant pathology /biochemistry, biophysics and molecular biology; Forrest W. Nutter Jr., plant pathology; Robert W. Thornburg, biochemistry, biophysics and molecular biology; Eve Wurtele, food science and human nutrition (also in College of Liberal Arts and Sciences).

• Promotion to professor (collaborator without tenure): Thomas C. Kaspar, agronomy.

• Promotion to associate professor with tenure: William D. Batchelor, agricultural and biosystems engineering; Michael M. Bell, sociology; Terry L. Besser, sociology; David A. Hennessy, economics; Jeffery K. Iles, horticulture; Gregory J. Phillips, microbiology; Bing X. Yang, plant pathology.

• Promotion to associate professor (collaborator without tenure): Cynthia A. Cambardella, agronomy; Linda M. Pollak, agronomy.

College of Business

• Promotion to professor (already tenured): Richard B. Carter, finance.

• Promotion to associate professor with tenure: Thomas E. DeCarlo, marketing; Anthony R. Hendrickson, logistics, operations and management information systems.

College of Design

• Promotion to associate professor with tenure: Julia M. Badenhope, landscape architecture; Paula J. Curran, art and design; Ingrid M. Lilligren, art and design; Mark Rakatansky, architecture.

College of Education

• Promotion to associate professor with tenure: Leslie R. Bloom, curriculum and instruction; Joesph C. Chen, industrial education and technology.

College of Engineering

• Promotion to professor (already tenured): James E. Rowings, civil and construction engineering; Lalita Udpa, electrical and computer engineering.

• Promotion to associate professor with tenure: Xiang-Dong Fang, mechanical engineering; Charles T. Jahren, civil and construction engineering; Bruce H. Kjartanson, civil and construction engineering.

• Promotion to associate professor (already tenured): Alan M. Russell, materials science and engineering.

College of Family and Consumer Sciences

• Promotion to assistant professor (adjunct without tenure): Ruth Glock, textiles and clothing.

College of Liberal Arts and Sciences

• Promotion to professor (already tenured): Rebecca Burnett, English; Betty Ann Dobratz, sociology/political science; Qiang Du, mathematics; Helen Ewald, English; Danny R. Hoyt, sociology; Michael O'Boyle, psychology; Steven R. Rodermel, botany; David R. Russell, English; Johnny S. Wong, computer science; Eve Wurtele, botany (also in College of Agriculture).

• Promotion to associate professor with tenure: Amy Sue Bix, history; Nancy Coinman, anthropology; Peter Dombrowski, political science; Brian Keller, mathematics; Lulu Rodriguez, journalism and communication; Timo Seppalainen, mathematics.

• Promotion to associate professor (already tenured): Mary Helen Dunlop, English.

Library

• Promotion to associate professor with tenure: Rita A. Marinko.

College of Veterinary Medicine

• Promotion to associate professor with tenure: Claire B. Andreasen, veterinary pathology.

• Promotion to associate professor (collaborator without tenure): James A. Harp, veterinary microbiology and preventive medicine.
