New internship announced
A new internship program to encourage women faculty to consider careers in academic administration has been announced by President Martin Jischke. The 1999-2000 pilot departmental internship program will help support eight interns (one from each college) who will help with special projects and administrative tasks, including those in budget planning and analysis.
The internships will be half-time, for a semester or the academic year. The President's Office will contribute $2,500 for a semester ($5,000 for a year) to help cover replacement costs in the intern's unit. Sponsoring areas cover the balance.
The new internships are available to tenured faculty. Applications are due Friday, April 30. For more information, see www.iastate.edu/~pres-info/intern1.html.
