Q: I've heard the "VEISHEA" acronym has something to do with names of Iowa State's original colleges. What are those names?
A: Iowa State had five undergraduate colleges when the first Veishea was organized in 1922. Here's how that acronym works out:
V - Veterinary Medicine
E - Engineering
IS- Industrial Science (precursor to Liberal Arts and Sciences)
HE- Home Economics (now Family and Consumer Sciences)
A - Agriculture
(The colleges of Business, Design and Education were organized later.)
