All invited to harassment prevention forum

Jonathan Alger, counsel at the American Association of University Professors (AAUP), will join Iowa State's Carla Espinoza and Hessie Harris in a forum on "Preventing Sexual Harassment in the University Community" at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 1, in the Memorial Union Sun Room.

Through the AAUP, Alger advises college and university faculty on legal issues, including academic freedom and discrimination. He previously served as a senior attorney/adviser at the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights.

Harris is associate counsel in university legal services, where her responsibilities include advising affirmative action and other university administrators during sexual harassment and other discrimination investigations. She also prepares responses to discrimination complaints filed with external administrative agencies and provides legal representation to university administrators on labor and employment matters.

Faculty Senate president Denise Vrchota will serve as moderator.
