Carver Capsule
Although George Washington Carver was on the Tuskegee faculty for 47 years, his relationship with Tuskegee founder and president Booker T. Washington was sometimes stormy. Carver wanted to focus on research and continually argued for better labs. Washington also expected him to manage the school's two farms, teach a full class load and serve on committees. Three times, Carver offered his resignation.
