Women's Day celebration is March 8

The talents and leadership of rural women around the world and in Iowa will be the focus of the 87th annual International Women's Day, celebrated at Iowa State with a reception from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 8, in 302 Catt.

A focal point of the reception will be the exhibit, "Bridging the Generations," a pictorial display of Iowa rural farmwomen and life from the 1800s to the present. Joan Moore, an ISU alumna who is featured in the exhibit, will give a short presentation. Neelika Jayawadane, Student Union Board president, will present a reading on her experiences living in rural areas throughout the world.

The celebration also will include a social time, and soup and sandwich dinner. The event is free but reservations are requested. Contact the Catt Center, 4-3181 (e-mail: cattcntr@iastate.edu) by Wednesday, March 3.
