Siegel to lead computation center

by Skip Derra

Peter Siegel, director of networking and computer systems at Cornell University Information Technologies, Ithaca, N.Y., has been appointed director for academic information technology. He will begin his new post July 15.

Siegel succeeds George Strawn, who has been on leave from ISU since 1995 to serve with the National Science Foundation.

"Peter Siegel's appointment as director for academic information technology is great news for Iowa State," said Provost John Kozak. "He will bring to our campus an outstanding background in research-related supercomputing, as well as solid experience providing computing support for a large university."

In his current position, Siegel is responsible for support of Cornell University's computing systems for administration, research and library, and for the campus communications infrastructure.
