Jewels of the Night to benefit the fountain

University Museums is sponsoring an antique jewelry auction to help pay for the renovation of Christian Petersen's statue, Fountain of the Four Seasons. The black-tie optional dinner begins at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 6, in the Brunnier Art Museum.

More than 100 pieces of antique and collectible jewelry, including pieces donated by central Iowa jewelers M.C. Ginsberg, Ames Silversmithing and 2 AU Limited, will be auctioned. Among the oldest pieces are Chinese jade bracelets from 900 A.D. The pieces range in value from less than $50 to several thousand dollars.

Anthony Cawdron, special events coordinator and chef at The Knoll, will prepare the gourmet meal around a jewel theme.

Tickets for the dinner and auction cost $100 per person ($75 is tax deductible) and are available from University Museums, 290 Scheman.
