Library mural dedication is Sunday

A public dedication of the new Parks Library mural will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday (March 22) in the second-floor rotunda, where the mural surrounds the entrance to the periodical room. Scheduled speakers include interim library dean Olivia Madison and instructor Dean Biechler, who was among students and faculty who helped create the mural.

The 22- by 20-foot mural, created to celebrate the Iowa sesquicentennial in 1996, was designed by Arizona artist and Iowa native Doug Shelton. The piece shows students using the knowledge they gained while at Iowa State and reflects the university's goal to become the best land-grant university in the country.
