Convocation scheduled a month earlier

Iowa State's annual spring convocation will begin at 3:15 p.m. Monday, March 30, in the Memorial Union Sun Room.

The event has been moved forward on the university calendar to coincide more closely with Iowa State's Founders Day, March 22. The university was chartered by the Iowa General Assembly March 22, 1858.

Several years ago, a university task force suggested scheduling key events around Founders Day to celebrate ISU accomplishments in its aspiration to become the best land- grant university.

Jischke will open the convocation with brief remarks. Provost John Kozak will present awards to faculty and staff. Refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the awards presentation, and pianist and freshman Rachael Larson will play.
