Espinoza heads Affirmative Action

by Steve Sullivan

Carla Espinoza, assistant vice president for human resource services, was named director of affirmative action this week. The appointment is effective immediately.

Espinoza has been interim director of affirmative action since August 1996.

Espinoza joined ISU in May 1996 as assistant vice president for human resource services. She will retain this position.

"Carla Espinoza's commitment to affirmative action and a strong record in handling workplace issues make her an excellent choice for Iowa State's affirmative action officer," said President Martin Jischke.

Prior to coming to ISU, Espinoza was a partner and principal investigator with Factfinders, a personnel consulting firm in Albuquerque, N.M.; director of the department of human resources at the University of New Mexico; and assistant vice chancellor of affirmative action and equal opportunity at the University of California, Irvine.
