ISU community raises $160,000 for United Way

by Diana Pounds

Iowa State faculty and staff pledged $160,000 to United Way for 1998. The campaign, which ended last month, drew slightly less than the $163,000 pledged during the previous year's university campaign.

"We're very grateful to the hundreds of faculty, staff and students who contributed to the campaign," said Ben Allen, dean of the College of Business and campaign chair. "Their generous donations will benefit more than 30 local human service agencies and so many people in Story County."

Allen also thanked the team leaders and other volunteers who worked on the university United Way campaign.

"Our volunteers worked very hard in getting faculty, staff and students involved in this campaign," he said. "Although the team leaders and I are disappointed that we did not reach our goal for the 1997 campaign, we are very appreciative of the support we received across campus and are optimistic about next year's campaign reaching its goal."
