Ads link ISU to products, jobs

by Diana Pounds

Iowa State's economic development accomplishments are touted in two commercials that are airing on central Iowa television stations this month.

Narrated by President Martin Jischke, the 30-second ads relate Iowa State's part in creating new products, from the computer to a healthier soybean oil, and creating new jobs at such companies as Engineering Animation and Etrema Products.

"We've learned that the more Iowans know about Iowa State, the more they appreciate the high quality work going on here," said Murray Blackwelder, vice president for external affairs. "These ads and two more that will air later are one way of spreading the word about this university's strong efforts in educating students as well as contributing to the economic development of this state."

The ads will air again during televised ISU basketball games along with two others -- one featuring Derrick Rollins, a chemical engineering and statistics professor who has been nationally honored for his work in mentoring students, and another, featuring the mother of an Iowa State graduate.
