Design addition gets regents OK

The design and budget for a significant addition to the College of Design was approved by the State Board of Regents Oct. 16. The regents approved the schematic design and budget for a planned $3 million addition designed by Baldwin White Architects, Des Moines. The addition will be on the southeast wall of the existing building.
Features of the project include:
- A 250-seat auditorium.
- An exterior plaza and improvements to the college's
atrium. Atrium improve-ments will focus on upgrading space
for long-term, secure display of student and faculty
work.
- In-studio computing areas, a distance education
facility and an Office of Information Technology for faculty
development.
- Additional studio and shop space, and electronically
enhanced graduate studios clustered around a new college
Visualization Laboratory.
