United Way kicks off next week
by Michelle Johnson
Faculty, staff and students are invited to attend the 1997 United Way campaign kick-off reception at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, in the Memorial Union Campanile Room.
This year's campaign goal is $168,000, up $8,000 from last year's goal.
"Our goal reflects the enthusiasm and commitment behind this year's campaign," said Ben Allen, dean of the College of Business and this year's campaign chair. "Donations, large or small, will help to provide critical financial support to human service organizations in Story and surrounding counties."
A few facts about the campaign:
Students played a significant role in the success of last year's campaign and a concerted effort is being made to build on that success, said Allen.
- 86 percent of donations goes to meet human service needs in Story County.
- The Story County United Way supports over 30 local human service agencies.
- Employees may designate their contributions to specific United Way organization(s) or counties.
- All donations are confidential.
All ISU employees will receive United Way pledge cards next week. Employees should fill out their pledge cards and return them to their area leader.
