Houston Chronicle rates ISU fourth
Iowa State was fourth among Big 12 peers in a Houston Chronicle ranking of the schools in the first year of the new league. Texas (123) was first, followed by Nebraska (116), Colorado (100) and ISU (81).
The system is based on a formula applied to the 12 sports in which all schools competed. The formula awards 12 points for first place, 11 for second and so forth.
"I think we can be proud of our overall performance in a very tough conference last season," athletic director Gene Smith said.
