Women's Center seeks board members
The Margaret Sloss Women's Center is seeking new members for its advisory board. The board provides consultation and feedback to the director and assistance to the staff. Board members spend four to six hours a month attending one to two board meetings, serving on a committee and participating in other center events.

Board members represent various constituencies, including undergraduates, graduate students, merit staff, professional and scientific staff, faculty and the community. The student positions are one-year terms; all other positions have three- year terms. New terms will begin July 1. Applications, available at the Women's Center, are due May 2. Application letters should be addressed to: Women's Center Advisory Board, Sloss House.

Calendar entries sought
Entries to the Alumni Association's 1997-98 ISU Calendar of Events should be submitted by April 15. Send information to Sandi Kellen, Alumni Suite, Memorial Union (fax: 4-9402; e- mail: skellen@isuadp2.adp.iastate.edu).

Fill 'er up
There are four new public refueling locations to buy E-85 gasoline, the preferred fuel for the university's flexible- fuel vehicles (FFV). Transportation Services has more than 30 FFV vehicles, identifiable with an FFV emblem near the front wheel. New E-85 refueling locations are the Fill & Food, 701 32nd Ave., Council Bluffs; Relf Oil, Highway 34 Truck Stop, West Burlington; Kum & Go, 5308 University at I-35, West Des Moines; and Kum & Go Food Store, 1-35 and 13th St., Ames. There are 20 E-85 public refueling stations in the Midwest and a total of 38 are planned by the end of the year.

E-85 is a blend of up to 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline. FFVs can operate on E-85, E-10, unleaded gasoline or any combination. State employees are encouraged to refuel state FFV vehicles with E-85 when possible.

General catalog available soon
The 1997-99 General Catalog will be distributed to departments at designated pickup locations starting March 10. Departments have been notified about pickup arrangements. Catalogs will be available to students, starting March 17, at the Alumni Hall, ground floor. All currently enrolled students may pick up one free copy during this period. After April 18, catalogs will not be available in Alumni Hall, but can be purchased in bookstores for $3 each.

Arts workshop has openings
Valerie Williams Co'Motion Dance Theater is sponsoring a five-day, all-arts workshop for students ages 8-18 Monday- Friday, March 10-14. The workshop will be daily from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Ames City Auditorium, 515 Clark Ave. Participants will receive instruction in visual art, expressive movement and the use of color to create mood in works of art and performance art. For more information, call 232-7374. Valerie Williams Co'Motion Dance Theater is in residency at Iowa State.

ISU 25-Year Club
Eighty-three Iowa State employees will be inducted into the 25-Year Club during the annual banquet Wednesday, March 26. Another 23 employees who have completed 35 years of service also will be honored. Events begin with a social at 6:15 p.m. in the Scheman second floor lobby, followed by dinner at 7 p.m. in 220 Scheman. Patrick Cleary, Engineering Animation, will demonstrate the firm's work during a program following dinner in Benton Auditorium. Honorees are guests of the club; dinner for others is $14 (choice of turkey, beef or vegetable stew). Reservations are due March 17. For more information, call the Retirement Office, 4-3830.

Walk for cure
Iowa State was one of the corporate sponsors of the 1997 Juvenile Diabetes Foundation's "Walk for the Cure" March 1 in the Des Moines skywalk. The event was chaired by ISU alumnus Chuck Johnson, Pioneer International CEO and the national chair of ISU's "Campaign Destiny" capital campaign. Vice President for External Affairs Murray Blackwelder organized Iowa State's efforts, which included several teams and financial donations. More than 5,000 people participated in the event, which raised more than $500,000.
