4-H will return to ribbon placement at state fair

Following discussions with many 4-H constituents, the State Youth and 4-H Program has decided to return to blue-red-white ribbon placement at the Iowa State Fair.

In a pilot effort this past year, blue-red-white ribbon awards were replaced with a "showcase" participation ribbon in the 4-H Exhibits Building at the State Fair. The pilot effort also provided the opportunity for exhibitors in five selected project areas to visit with judges and participate in workshops.

Based on feedback from 4-H participants, parents and leaders and the general public, blue-red-white ribbon placement will be reinstated for all 4-H exhibits at future Iowa State fairs. In 1997, the program again will provide the opportunity for participants in selected project areas to visit with judges and participate in workshops. Written evaluative comments from judges will continue to be provided for all exhibits.
