Talk of Iowa
Family and Consumer Sciences Dean Beverly Crabtree will join President Martin Jischke on the Oct. 10 edition of Talk of Iowa. The program airs at 10 a.m. on WOI-AM Radio.
Lynn Zeigler's new compact disc (featured in the Sept. 20 Inside) is available in 149 Music, 4-3831. Calls should be directed to that office rather than the number listed in Inside. The CD is $12.50 plus $2.50 postage and handling. Postage and handling costs may be saved by picking up the CD in person. The term for the organ's tuning system is "unequal," not "uneven," as reported in Inside.
ISU choirs cut a CD
The Iowa State choirs are featured on a compact disc available from the music department. "Under the Campanile" features 72 minutes of performances recorded during the last 18 months. Selections on the CD include Danny Boy, A Fascinatin' Rhythm, O Sifuni Mungu and The Songs of Iowa State, a medley of ISU school and fight songs covering 70 years.
The CD costs $15 and is available from the choral music office, 115 Music, 4-2810.
Des Moines concert
The Iowa State Singers, directed by Robert Molison, and members of the ISU Chamber Choir, directed by Jeffrey Prater, will appear with the Des Moines Symphony Oct. 12 and 13 at the Des Moines Civic Center. In concerts at 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday, the groups will perform the "Resurrection" Symphony of Gustav Mahler. Also performing are the Des Moines Choral Society and the Drake Choir. Tickets may be purchased by calling TicketMaster, 243-1888.
An estimated three dozen faculty and P&S staff will join President Martin Jischke and Provost John Kozak this weekend on the latest Road Scholars tour. The group will travel to east central Iowa, with stops planned today (Friday) at Tama- Toledo High School, the "Silos and Smokestacks" project at Traer, and the Arts and Recreation Center and John Deere product engineering center in Waterloo. Planned Saturday stops include Wartburg College, Waverly; a migratory bird marshland project in Butler County; a seed farm near Conrad and a family farm in Marshall County. All Road Scholars will be on the same tour.
