Daly steps down

by Skip Derra
College of Education Dean Norene Daly announced June 21 that she will step down, on or before July 31, and return to teaching.

"I very much appreciate Norene's service and dedication to our College of Education and the university," said President Martin Jischke. "I wish her well as she returns to teaching."

Daly has been dean of the College of Education since 1990. She also is a professor in curriculum and instruction. Daly has researched and published papers on teacher education, multicultural education, education reform, distance education and reading programs. Prior to coming to Iowa State, she was dean of the College of Education at Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton.

Jischke said a national search for Dean Daly's successor will begin soon.
