New info booth ribbon-cutting Friday

by Michelle Johnson
Iowa State officials will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday, May 24 (today), to inaugurate the university's new visitor information booth. The booth is located on the east side of Elwood Drive, southeast of Hilton Coliseum. Parking during the event will be available in lot D-3.

The booth is designed to provide a more friendly and efficient way for visitors to obtain information about Iowa State. It features a drive-up window as well as a walk-in entrance. The booth, which will be staffed by retired ISU faculty and staff, will include campus and community information.

"We are delighted to have this booth up and running," said President Martin Jischke. "It will be a first point of contact for our visitors and it will help them find their way into our university as well as help them learn about the campus."

Hours for the booth initially will be from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays. The booth also will be open for some special events.
