Dissertation award

Chris Clemens, a Hubble Fellow and post-doctoral research associate, received the 1995 Council of Graduate Schools/University Microfilms International Distinguished Dissertation Award in the field of mathematics, physical sciences and engineering. The award is given annually for the top technical dissertation and includes a cash award of $1,000.

Clemens' research involves observing the oscillations of white dwarf stars using the Whole Earth Telescope, a network of small telescopes located around the world. Clemens' post- doctoral adviser is Steve Kawaler.
