Inside Iowa State Dec. 1, 1995 Where To Eat In The Union by Anne Dolan Renovation of the Memorial Union ground floor Commons and kitchen area began last month. The former food court closed Nov. 15 and since then, the Cardinal Room (main floor) has served three meals daily in a cafeteria format. The Maintenance Shop also is open all day to help accommodate diners and a lunch-only option, food carts offering sandwiches and beverages, is available in The B-12 Cafe (Room B-12, formerly a billiards room) and the northwest study lounge (first floor). Vending machines have been moved to The B-12 Cafe and are accessible from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Onion's convenience store has been moved temporarily to the space formerly occupied by The Outlet at the east end of the ground floor. The ATM machine formerly in the Trophy Tavern has been moved to the northwest study lounge. The north access to the Memorial Union parking ramp is closed; access is from Lincoln Way only, but pedestrians still can enter the Memorial Union from the east doors. DEMOLITION PARTY A demolition party for the Memorial Union ground floor will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, in the Commons construction area. There will be refreshments, music, hard hats and the opportunity to help knock down a wall. In addition to a new food court area and renovated kitchen, the project will include renovation of the student organization space, new restrooms and an elevator. The kitchen and food court work is scheduled to be completed in January 1996. The student office work will begin during spring semester, after student organizations have been temporarily relocated. __________ University Relations Iowa State University
