Inside Iowa State Oct. 27, 1995 'SUCCEEDING' TIME NEARS If you have signed up for the Succeeding With Students learning exercise, you should receive confirmation of the time for which you are scheduled early in November. "A large portion of faculty and staff have already registered for sessions, and we're now working to organize discussion groups," said Steve Richardson, chair of the Succeeding With Students steering committee and director of the Center for Teaching Excellence. Participants in the exercise will be part of small group discussions that are intended to stimulate ideas on how Iowa State can help students succeed. Those who haven't enrolled in a session still can sign up through their departmental secretaries or supervisors, said Vicky Thorland-Oster, intern in the president's office and human resource services training specialist. She advised late enrollees to provide a first and second choice of session times, since a number of sessions are filled. STUDENTS SOUGHT FOR DISCUSSION GROUPS Project organizers are seeking students to participate in the discussion groups. The goal is to have one student in each group, Richardson said. Students who are interested should contact Thorland-Oster at 4-9443 (e-mail: vlthorl@iastate.edu).
