Inside Iowa State Oct. 27, 1995 JISCHKE NAMED TO LAND-GRANT GROUP President Martin Jischke has been named to the PresidentsŐ Commission of the Twenty-First Century State and Land-Grant Universities. The newly formed commission will highlight changes under way at state and land-grant universities and identify changes that need to take place. The commission was organized by the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges, with a grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. Twelve of 20 university presidents asked to serve--including Iowa State's--represent the 12 universities already participating in KelloggŐs VISION 2020 initiative. The PresidentsŐ Commission is expected to look at four key issues: --food, agriculture, nutrition and training of future food systems professionals; --higher educationŐs responsibility in improving elementary and secondary education; --serving youth at risk; and --improving outreach education to serve rural, suburban and urban areas. _____ University Relations Iowa State University
