Succeeding Invitations Coming Next Week Invitations to the Succeeding With Students learning exercise in November will be mailed to faculty and staff the week of Oct. 2. The exercise is intended to give all ISU employees a feel for the big picture in higher education and spur discussion about how Iowa State can better serve students. It will bring faculty and staff together in small groups for four hours of guided discussion. "A number of companies have used this exercise to get all employees -- not just management -- involved in coming up with ideas that can help their organizations grow," said Steve Richardson, chair of the Succeeding With Students steering committee and director of the Center for Teaching Excellence. "The more faculty and staff who participate, the more successful we will be. Every employee of Iowa State has special insights and opinions that are valuable." Individuals should check with their departmental secretaries or supervisors to find out how to register for Succeeding With Students sessions. Faculty and staff volunteers still are needed to lead the discussion groups. To volunteer, contact Vicky Thorland- Oster, 4-9443, or e-mail: vlthorl@iastate.edu.
