Blackwelder Is Interim External Affairs Head by John Anderson Murray Blackwelder, associate vice president for external affairs and president of the ISU Foundation, has been named interim vice president for external affairs. Former external affairs vice president Reid Crawford left ISU earlier this month to become vice president for institutional advancement at the University of Maryland. "It's important that we continue the progress that we have made in the departments of external affairs," said President Martin Jischke, "and we're fortunate to have someone of Murray's experience and talents to keep us going in that direction as we search for a permanent vice president." Blackwelder came to Iowa State in 1991 after serving six years as head of the Wichita State University Endowment Association. He also has worked in development and alumni relations for Rockhurst College and Baker University. As head of the ISU Foundation, he has led Iowa State to its four best fund-raising years in history. External Affairs includes the ISU Foundation, ISU Alumni Association, University Relations, Intercollegiate Athletics, WOI Radio, University Museums, and the Iowa State Center, through the university's contract with Ogden Allied. Jischke said a national search will be conducted for a permanent vice president for external affairs. A search committee will be named later this month. _____ contact: John Anderson, University Relations, (515) 294-6136 updated: 9-15-95
