CRAWFORD DEPARTS FOR MARYLAND Reid W. Crawford, vice president for external affairs, has been named vice president for institutional advance-ment at the University of Maryland, College Park. He also will serve as vice president of the University of Maryland Foundation Inc. Crawford will assume his new position at the University of Maryland next week. He will oversee the offices of alumni programs, development, special events, university publications and university relations. "This is a wonderful opportunity for Reid, and I wish him the best," President Martin Jischke said. "We are very grateful to him for his many years of service to Iowa State University." Jischke said he hoped to name an interim vice president by the end of this week and will appoint a committee by mid- September to conduct a national search for a successor. Crawford has been at Iowa State for 14 years. Since 1991, he has served as vice president for external affairs, overseeing several university units, including Athletics, University Relations, the Iowa State University Foundation, WOI AM-FM Radio, University Museums, the Alumni Association, and the Iowa State Center. Prior to his vice presidency, Crawford was the university's legal adviser from 1981 to 1994, and assistant to the president from 1981 to 1991.
