AIRFARE DISCOUNTS ARE PART OF SETTLEMENT An antitrust settlement will provide all state and local government employees with a 10 percent discount on domestic airline tickets used for official business when they travel on certain airlines. The settlement calls for $40 million in discounts to be provided. The discounts, which begin Aug. 8, will be given until Feb. 9, 1997, or until the settlement is depleted. The discount applies to all published fares unless the airlines list exceptions when the fares are published. Participating airlines are Alaska, American, Continental, Delta, Northwest, TWA, United and USA Airlines and other commuter carriers.
