Leaves of glass
As part of this year's garden ornamentation theme at Reiman Gardens, the conservatory is sporting colorful bottle trees. A Southern tradition that likely came from Africa, glass bottles were hung on tree limbs to protect homes by trapping wayward spirits. The conservatory display, which runs through Nov. 14 and features hundreds of glass bottles, offers guests the opportunity to learn more about the tradition and glass recycling. Photo by Bob Elbert.
